Desire Pearl Resort
Desire Pearl Resort. The first time we went to Desire Riviera Maya Pearl Resort aka Pearl Resort was shortly after they opened their doors. Ginger and I had already been to Desire Riviera Maya Resort (the original resort) and we wanted to experience something different. Pearl Resort is a clothing optional vacation destination. The resort is located just south of the original resort and is within a short walking distance up the beach from Puerto Morales, Mexico. We do a lot of walking and ventured down to Puerto Morales several times during our trip. It is worth the walk. The town is very peaceful and quaint.
Desire Pearl Resort Our Flight
The flight from Houston to Cancun was delayed due to mechanical issues. This concerned us a little, but after three hours we took off and were flying south towards paradise. The airline gave away free drinks to make up for the delayed flight. Ginger and I enjoyed a drink and it lightened up our mood. The Cancun airport was extremely busy when we arrived. It took us a little longer than normal to get through Immigration and Customs. Once through, we quickly found our airport transfer shuttle van that we had booked through Desires website. Read about the shuttle service here. After you come out of the airport there is a person holding a sign with your name on it. Just show them your reservation and you enter the van and start your trip to Desire Pearl. The trip from the airport to the resort only takes about 30 minutes.
The resort is a 5 star facility. The staff at check-in are very helpful and polite. When you arrive they will offer you a drink. This time we were given the option, Corona or Champagne. We chose Corona because it was extremely hot when we arrived. During check-in we learned that Desire Pearl was having their grand opening celebration during our stay! VIPs from all over the world were coming in for the celebration. Our bags were carried to our room by the bellman and we were off to explore the resort. Desire Pearl is a much larger resort then the original resort. It has great restaurants, pool activities and a fun hot tub. The pool is the center of entertainment during the day and the hot tub at night.
The Grand Opening
The day we arrived, the staff was setting up Desire Resort for the grand opening celebration. The celebration started in the evening. We spent most of the day in the pool talking to other guests. This is the best part of our resort experience. We have been to other vanilla (clothing required) resorts and it is hard to strike up a conversation with other people. At any of the Desire Resorts, great conversation is easy to find. Most people are very friendly and flirtatious. This is what makes it a really fun vacation.
The grand opening celebration was amazing. The staff built a runway stage over the main pool for the Victoria Secret models. On the pool deck, the organizers strategically parked Ferrari’s as a back drop to the show. The excitement in the air was immense. We got the VIP treatment by the staff. In addition, the hotel staff set up a real high-end looking sushi bar on a balcony that overlooks the pool. We suggest you visit Desire Pearl Resort for your first, or next clothing optional vacation. Our experience at this resort was incredible.
